‘Tickle your fancy’ is a cabaret night full of surprises. A smorgasbord of entertainment – offering something for everyone!

The night is hosted by comedy singing act Doolally who sing their funny, daft original songs as well as introduce a range of cabaret turns – including music, spoken word, dance, theatre and sometimes the downright unusual!

Every TYF has a different line up of quality acts and there are always sweet delights and the TYF writing competition – with prizes!

Since 2015, ‘Tickle your fancy’ nights have been entertaining audiences in Chorlton and beyond. They are delighted to be part of Happy!

The line-up for Happy includes:
Hannah Brackenbury –  musical comedy
Multi award-winning musical comedy performer Hannah Brackenbury has been tickling the funny bones of UK cabaret audiences for over a decade. Her hilarious and heartfelt original songs are the perfect accompaniment to her clever and ever-popular song parodies, notably her viral Taylor Swift spoof, Cats Together. She’s currently touring the UK with Victorious – a joyful and poignant musical tribute to Victoria, which scooped ‘Best Show’ at the Funny Women Awards 2019.

Dave Vineypoetry
A multiple poetry slam winner, workshop facilitator, youth worker and guest at poetry nights and festivals across the UK, Dave has written and performed for BBC Manchester Radio, for two sell out shows at the Lowry Theatre as part of the Working Verse Collective, was the 2013 Poet Laureate of Kendal Calling Festival and released his debut collection A Poet Called Dave in 2015 with Flapjack Press.  Dave was commissioned to write and perform at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the World Taekwondo Championships at Manchester Arena in May 2019, televised live on BT Sport.


Ruth JonesLucky BagS” –  dance
Choreographer, Ruth Jones has been commissioned to create a new physical work, in response to the Victoria Wood archives.  Particularly taken by Victoria’s touring suitcase and other props and sketches, Ruth has choreographed a new duet, comprised of five physical vignettes, entitled Lucky BagS. With fabulous costumes by Alison Hamilton and music specially composed by Eve Harrison, the choreography hopes to put a smile on your face. One section of Lucky BagS, will be presented at Tickle Your Fancy cabaret. The entire work, Lucky BagS, is performed over the Happy Festival weekend in different venues. Dancers, Clare Fildes and Abbi Henderson take centre stage at TYF cabaret.

Beth Allen’s Flash Mob – singing
Hot from their Bury Centre Flash Mob performance during the day, the Happy Festival Choir perform a Victoria Wood classic ……….no spoilers. This fresh new choir will wow you with their dance moves and passion!
