Let’s Do It
Let’s Do It! – will provide opportunities and spaces across Bury for audiences of all ages to meet, socialise, share stories, learn to dance, sing a song, play an instrument; to join in with tea dances, en-masse music jams, a ‘scratch’ choir and other events that encourage conversation and sharing. There’ll also be the opportunity to learn something in a day: write a silly song, play a ukulele…
See our Online Page for information on how you can participate safely in your homes in the meantime – but watch this space for our full festival programme in May 2021.
A wonderful new partnership has been formed between the Happy festival and the Manchester’s world famous Hallé. For Happy the Hallé will bring their musicians and choirs to Bury to encourage audiences to ‘have a go’ with mass choir meet-ups and relaxed performances for families and young people.
Happy will also be working with ALFA music service, reaching out to schools across the borough to participate in the Happy programme, forming part of a choir and performances over the weekend.
Storybox – specialists in creative work with dementia patients – are working with Happy in various care settings across the borough, taking inspiration from the Victoria Wood archive to talk to residents about what makes them happy and to bring new creative activities into their settings and at sessions in Bury Art Museum.
Happy are also joining forces with two great initiatives in Bury: the Culture Champions, over-50s volunteers who will help champion the event and support it with activities and volunteering; and Bury Creatives, a scheme aimed at developing local young people with an interest in creativity and culture. For both initiatives Happy is a platform to showcase and perform their work.
